Working as a trainer in international youth work requires continuous learning, curiosity, and the ability to identify and use relevant resources for professional growth.
Trainers are not only facilitators of learning for others, but also active learners who take responsibility for their own development.
This activity invites you to explore a range of platforms, tools, and communities that support trainers’ professional development. By engaging with these resources, you will expand your awareness of learning opportunities and identify the ones most relevant to your own growth as a trainer.
By completing this activity, you will be able to:

- Navigate platforms and communities that support learning in the youth work field.
- Reflect on your learning needs and define your development priorities.

Get involved with the International Youth Work Trainers Guild to access resources, including the Trainer’s Support System, professional development opportunities, Trainers Appraisal platform, and GreenCOMP for the Youth Field.
Appraiser platform for trainers' professional development
The Trainers Guild, in partnership with other training organisations, created and maintains the Appraiser platform for professional development. The platform includes:
- Open educational resources and digital badges for trainers' competence development.
- 360-degree competence assessment tool
- Guidelines, focusing on self-assessment, external feedback, professional development, and peer support processes.

A strategic framework for the development of youth worker education and training in Europe under the Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps programmes.
T-Kit 6: Training Essentials
This revised T-Kit aims to equip youth workers and youth trainers with the essentials of non-formal education training. It is a practical tool for them to develop training competencies and learn more about educational theory, concepts, tools, practices, and resources, as well as hands-on tips. This handbook is written by trainers for trainers and youth workers in the European youth field.
Based on your exploration, identify which resources are most relevant for your current stage of development and how you can use them in practice. Reflect on your learning and define concrete next steps for your professional development.

The Awero organisation created this educational resource and activity for the Erasmus+ Accreditation training for trainers.
This activity supports trainers’ competence development in the Learning to learn area. Activity content and badge-issuing criteria aligned with the European Training Strategy (ETS) competence model for trainers working internationally. In particular:
- Identifying learning objectives and pursuing them pro-actively.
- Identifying and providing appropriate resources to support individual learning.
